Our society has become very child-centered, with many adult schedules revolving around children's schedules. Everything is done for the comfort of the child. Adults rescue them at every turn and try to make their lives perfect and wrinkle-free. Children grow up thinking that they "deserve" whatever they want without really having to sacrifice anything like hard work, time, or energy to get it. This activity is designed to help children think about their roles and responsibilities in social development.
Students will reflect on what might be motivating bullies to behave a certain way, and task analyze skills they think the bully would benefit from learning.
This exercise is from Tamara Zentic's 13 & Counting: Be the Difference! and is recommended for grades 7-12.
