Secondary students have one thing in common... DRAMA is part of their everyday lives!
Taken from the book Take Two: Skill-Building Skits You Have Time to Do!, written by educator Cindi Dodd, this short and straightforward skit will keep your students engaged while teaching a valuable social skill - "Making a Request." The skit actively involves young people in the skill, showing inappropriate behaviors along with modeling positive replacement behaviors. It also gives students an opportunity to verbalize, summarize and write down what they have seen, and apply it to their own classroom experiences. Once the skit is completed, hand out copies of the "What's Right? What's Wrong?" worksheet to students so they can write down what they observed and discuss what the skit taught them about the social skill.
This exercise if recommended for grades 5-8.
