Downloadable Activity Guide: Pirate and Inkblot, The Adventures of Jeff and Reed

Includes 6 activities that complement lessons learned in The Pirate and The Ink Blot, the first story in The Adventures of Jeff and Reed Anthology. Each activity follows the GANAG lesson structure:

Goal (Share the lesson goal/objective.)
Access prior knowledge (Access students’ existing knowledge and awareness.)
New information (Share new information or skills, then students clarify and practice.)
Application (Students apply what was learned.)
Generalize the goal (Make connections back to the goal, reinforce students’ effort, and provide feedback.)

• Lesson One- The Door: Open the “door” to emotions and feelings and identify how they want others to feel about them.
• Lesson Two- Whose Shoe?: Students will put themselves in another character’s “shoes” and learn how to have empathy for that character.
• Lesson Three- Bullying 101: Recognize real bullying and how to resolve conflicts. Differentiate between bullying, being mean, and being rude. Handouts included.
• Lesson Four- Bullying 102: Learn to take ownership of inappropriate behaviors, such as judging and mocking others because of how they look and/or act. Introduce Be BOLD strategies for addressing conflict. Handouts included.
• Lesson Five- True Friendship: Develop true friendships while evolving and growing to become a better friend to others.
• Lesson Six- Embrace the Difference: Students gain an appreciation of each other’s differences and increased awareness of the importance of compassion. Videos spotlight differences which will lead to discussion. Handouts included.
