• Determination Bookmarks: Students will create a visual reminder that Self-D and hard work are necessary to reach their goals. Bookmark Template included.
• Self-D Matching: Students will connect variables of the story with specific characters. Matching Worksheet included.
• Self-D Check Yo Self Letter: Students will use goal setting and self-reflection while writing themselves a letter.
• Self-D Dodecahedron Project: Students will incorporate math skills while demonstrating understanding of Self-Determination with a hands-on project. Template included.
• Self-D Behavior/Skill Chart: Students will use the included Skill Chart to improve a certain behavior/skill that they struggle with in class.
• Group Knot: Students will use teamwork throughout the Group Knot game. Game Questions and Instructions included.

Kip Jones, a.k.a. ‘Mr. J,’ is a guidance counselor at Alcoa Elementary School in Alcoa, Tennessee, where he resides with his family. Mr. J. uses what he calls “bibliorhymology” in his Willie Bohanon books, an Urban Character Education series that also includes a rap song, dance, and worksheets.
